The Traveler’s Gift

“Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success”

This book is captivating, imaginative, and amazingly motivational.  I read books about personal success quite often, and I don’t know that there was any one book that kept my attention and gave me that can’t put it down feeling like The Traveler’s Gift. I highly recommend this book, not just for finding your way but to give you new outlook on the way you view circumstances that happen in your life.

The main character, David Ponder, is at a crossroads in his life.  Sick and tired of being sick and tired, he’s done and has given up on life.  He then finds himself traveling through history meeting some monumental people who altered the course of millions of people’s lives.  Receiving a message from each person, he collects the “7 Decisions that Determine Personal Success.” I can tell you I’ve been in that crossroads, and I’ve been the David Ponder in the story.  This book really helps put everything in perspective on how we control our outlook on life.  We decide the actions we take and we decide to accept the rewards or the consequences.

Here are some quotes from the book:

“I will not let my history control my destiny.”

“God moves mountains to create the opportunity of His choosing.  It’s up to you to be ready to move yourself.”

“Many people move out of the way for a person on the run; others are caught up in his wake.”

“Criticism, condemnation, and complaint are creatures of the wind. They come and go on the wasted breath of lesser beings and have no power over me.”

“Our very lives are fashioned by choice.  First we make choices.  Then our choices make us.”

“You will find that God rarely uses a person whose main concern is what others are thinking.”

“Reason can only be stretched so far, but faith has no limits.  The only limit to your realization of tomorrow is the doubt you hold fast today.”
